Rest assured that the Guardia Civil are going to be keeping an eye on the pesky jet-skis this summer, as they put into place a special operation that began on the 1st of July to control jet-ski usage on the Costa Tropical.

In fact, they’re not only checking on jet-skis, to make sure that their riders have all the required paperwork, but will also be doing the same for all pleasure craft.

It’s not all about checking paperwork and nabbing culprits who break the law, but also trying to prevent incidents and accidents given the amount of activities on the sea just off the beaches. In other words, it will be along the lines of the traffic police on our roads.

To carry this out they will be using their maritime and air assets; i.e., the PEGASO drones. The spy-in-the-sky for catching those speeding on the nation’s roads also belong to this unit, but mounted on a helicopter. The Guardia-Civil drones, operated from the beach, will check out jet-skis, etc and if necessary, the officers can call in the own launches based in Motril Port to intercept.
