A man phoned the Policía Nacional in Motril and said that he had unfortunately stabbed his neighbour a couple of times.

Intrigued, they asked why and was told, “He was bothering me.” Fair, some might consider, but not the police, of course, nor the perforated neighbour, to be sure.

The call came in late in the morning of the 24th (Friday) and not long after the candid caller was under arrest. The stabbing, however, was more the case of a ‘slicing’ because he had used a machete.

So how had the neighbour annoyed the aggressor? Apparently, he had dared to tick him off for shooting airgun pellets at kids who were making a noise, playing next to his house. The machete swinger wasn’t happy with the noise coming from children playing happily, laughing and shouting – how dare they!

Now to be fair, he didn’t actually shoot at them, but rather he fired into the air with his air pistol to impress upon them that finding somewhere else to play would be appreciated.

A neighbour, who witnessed this and disagreed with this stance, banged on his front door. Well, the door opened and before the neighbour could say, “I say, Old Bean, steady on,” he had been struck twice with a machete, in his chest and stomach.

Well, things were not going according to plan for the kids, the neighbour or the noise-sensitive and questionably insane aggressor because the victim ended up in the ICU in Granada, although, apparently, his injuries are not life threatening – a tad inconvenient, but doctors consider that he will recover.

The Policía Nacional arrested the attacker, who lives with his parents, and confiscated his air pistol, air rifle and machete.

As for the kids, they can make all the noise that they want in the foreseeble future because the irritable man will be absent for a while.
