The Central Government has approved more than 193m euros to cover 100% of the repair & prevention works for damages caused by winter storms in 73 municipalities in Granada.
Included within those towns is Salobreña, which will receive over 6-million euros, destined mostly to repairing or improving drainage and stormwater collectors which should have prevented flooding in the urban center, i.e., the Pontanilla, which is not far from the main entrance from the N-340.

The Central Government, though its Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, earmarked a total of 7-billion euros for Andalucía and Extremadura.
The Government Sub-Delegate for Granada, José Antonio Montilla, said that this aid “represents a historic opportunity to undertake actions long claimed by numerous municipalities and which until now were unfeasible due to their high cost.”
Amongst those that he cited across the province, was, “the solution to the stormwater problems in the urban center of Salobreña.”
Amongst the works aimed at preventing future floods is the channeling of the Rambla de Albuñol further down the Costa Tropical.
The Royal Decree-Law approved by the Government includes aid for evacuated people, homes, businesses, and farms affected by the storms. In the province of Granada, 7,200 agricultural and livestock farm owners have already received direct aid worth 74 million euros, with amounts ranging between 5,000 and 25,000 euros.
Editorial comment: Montilla, however, managed to get the ‘political’ boot in by comparing the Central Government to the “ridiculous aid to municipalities being given by the Junta of Andalucía or the Provincial Council,” both of which are run by their opposite numbers.
