Around mid-June in Motril a man was attacked in the town centre by a man armed with a large rock and a knife.

This occurred around 20.30h on Avenida de Salobreña when a pedestrian, without any warning, was assaulted with a large stone. Even as he lay on the floor, the assault continued.

The injured man was taken to Centro de Salud to have his injuries treated, including having stitches.

Despite fleeing the scene, the Policía Local managed to track him down in the north of the town and arrest him. 

After undergoing an psychiatric examination  it was decided to hold the man in a psychiatric centre pending trial.
