There was a bit of  a scuffle in Nigüelas on Saturday the 21st when a man began shouting and throwing things out of his window.

Such was the disruption to the normal village life of this cosy mountain village at the ungodly time of 08.00h that the Guardia Civil were summoned.

Now, when dealing with people who are clearly having a bad day and not being entirely rational, the normal officers thought it a good idea to bring along an officer from the bomb-disposal squad (TEDAX-NRBQ), as well as a negotiator.

Well nothing exploded, except for the man’s blood pressure and the officers were able to calm him down and open his front door, which was when the Guardia Civil, having withstood a barrage of plant pots and small furnishings, grabbed and cuffed him.

He was handed over to medical personnel from Granada’s Hospital Clínico and convinced him not to be silly.

However, according to the good folk of Nigüelas, and a couple of the bad folk, this was not the first time that this particular resident had got out of the wrong side of bed.
