The night of the 5th saw rain and wind, so much so that a retaining wall came down in La Herradura.
This occurred on Calle Cerro Gordo Norte. This area is off the old stretch of the N-340 that loops around the Cerro Gordo Tunnel (the Restaurante Mirador de Cerro Gordo road). It’s up the Urbanización Nogal access junction, following along the Calle Cerro Gordo Sur lane.

The retaining wall in question belongs to a building under construction; water built up behind it, soaking the soil until it gave way. Nobody was hurt, except for somebody’s pocket, that is.
It was a neighbour who reported the incident and the Almuñécar Fire Department cordoned off the section of the street until the builders are able to complete the removal of the debris.
