Subsidised Rural Bus Routes

The Junta has expanded its Rural Connected Andalucía programme with 22 new routes, bringing the total to over 105 routes to facilitate on-demand public transport in rural areas.

These routes mainly serve municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants that previously lacked a regular bus service, benefiting 35 population centres and more than 59,000 additional residents, at an annual cost to the administration of €1,124,211.

In the province of Granada, the new routes will connect Lújar-Motril, Cádiar-Motril (Hospital), Torre Cardela-Guadix, Montillana-Granada, Cástaras-Nieles-Tímar-Lobras-Cádiar, and Rubite-Castell de Ferro (Gualchos).

The programme currently covers 159 population centres and 381,146 inhabitants, offering services for administrative, healthcare, legal, and commercial procedures, with reservations made by phone at least 24 hours in advance.

The cost to users is equivalent to that of a regular bus fare, with the difference covered by the Junta de Andalucía

The goal is to improve mobility in rural areas, optimise resources, and guarantee access to essential services for residents of the most sparsely populated parts of Andalucía.
