Yesterday morning, Almuñécar Town Council unanimously approved a Declaration of Special Municipal Interest for the construction of 60 dwellings on Callejón Hurtado de Mendoza.

This project belongs to the Granada Provincial Housing, Land & Equipment Company (Visogsa), which runs the building of VPOs (Government Subsidised Housing).

The location is the vacant land used for summer parking near the Centro de Salud, more or less behind Las Gondolas. In fact there are two vacant spaces, one on each side of the river, so not sure which.

These 60 dwellings will have 60 parking spaces, 60 storage units, an administrative building, and a rotational parking area (i.e. first come; first served).

The spokesperson for the PP governing party, Rafael Caballero, (yes, he is also the Chairman of the Mancomunidad) said, “This agreement represents a decisive step forward in facilitating the immediate start of the works,” noting that the development already has a building permit, provisional classification as subsidised housing, and the contract for its execution has been awarded.

Spokesman Caballero also highlighted that the approved declaration authorises the Town Council to apply 95% discounts to both the IBI (Property Tax) and the ICIO (Tax on Construction, Installations, & Works), as stipulated in the tax ordinances for both levies.

Editorial comment: the reason that I keep mentioning that Rafael Caballero holds two positions is that they are full-time positions; ‘dedicación exclusiva,’ with the corresponding salary, but you cannot devote yourself to two posts, full time, simultaneously, therefore, the question is… is he getting two full salaries for these posts?
