Playa Granada Expansion

Playa Granada has grown enormously and now the final 344 dwellings (apartments) are going up.. but for how long will construction pause?

Motril Town decided to plan for the development of this area in 1990 with the first dwellings materialising in 2003.

Since then a total of 2,709 dwellings have gone up, culminating in these last few hundred to join those developments, Mar de Fabiola (Molina Olea) and Aqua (Osuna)

The ones being worked on now are scheduled to be finished between 2026 and 2027.

But buildings are not the only thing has gone up because house prices and rentals have gone astronomical, fuelled by the demands from residents of Madrid and Granada.

As for the future, the 2003 Urban Development Plan still has legs and construction will spred down towards Playa de Poniente and la Charca de Suárez, complete with a marina interior and a golf course, accompanied by residential housing – naturally!

Editorial comment: does Motril have the capacity to provide services such as sewage disposal and mains water for the planned housing because it is very doubtful that the future will provide it.

Yes, I believe they are, but don’t hold your breath because half a dozen plans for more marinas and golf courses along the Costa Tropical are just politicians promising the moon when elections are near. – Martin
