The Guardia Civil carried out a complicated rescue operation involving a 50-year-old diver off the Punta de la Mona.
This actually happened last Wednesday when one of a group of divers participating a diving-school outing lost contact with the rest owing to strong, underwater currents.

Officers belonging to the Servicio Marítimo Provincial (Guardia Civil based in Granada) sped to the area in their launch and starteda search pattern based on known currents.
They found him amongst rocks at the base of a cliff on Punta de La Mona. An officer jumped into the water to aid the diver, who was injured and desorientated. The small launch then had to navigate amongst the rocks to be able to pick them up.
The diving company took charge of the victim once ashore and obtain medical attention for his cuts and bruises from trying to secure a grip on the rocks.
