The skipper of a small launch has been arrested, charged with reckless manslaughter after he collided with a woman on a jet-ski, resulting in her death.

The accident took place around 19.25h on Saturday off Playa de Los Toros within the municipality of Manilva, in the province of Málaga.

The skipper of the launch has may also been charged with using the launch under the influence of alcohol, which is tantamount to drink-driving, had the accident occurred on dry land. He was breathalysed but the level was not very high, athough too high to ‘sail.’

The Guardia Civil in their investigations have established that skipper and the victim were friends and had gone out together each on their own craft. The woman was on the back of the jet-ski and her partner at the controls.

Eyewitnesses spoke of one of the craft carrying out a brusk manoeuvre. It was later established that it had been the launch that had done this.
