There was a fire in Otívar yesterday, more or less below the new mirador on the sharp bend leading to the village. The fire was at a level just above the river.
The flames burnt through about 500 sq/m of brush and trees before Infoca could put it out. It started a little before 18.00h

The forest-fire-fighting service, Infoca deployed four helicopters with underslung buckets (bambi) and at least one airplane (Air Tractor: see photo) flying from the Infoca base in Jayena, near the Embalse de Berjejales.
Also deployed where two foot squads, two fire trucks (autobombas) and three semi-heavy vehicles. Other personnel deployed were four Environmental Department workers and two overseers.
Changing the subject, back on the Sunday the 15th, a hiker had to be rescued in the Junta de Los Ríos around 14.15h after having had a fall. The Guardia Civil, mountain-rescue helicopter had to be called in given the inaccessibilty of the gorge
The victim, who was a 55-year-old woman, was flown directly the the PTS general hospital in the city of Granada.
