The Motril fire service was called out after strong winds wrought havoc with the bonefires on a beach.

This took place on Playa del Cable, which is the one right up against the western end of the port. Midnight had come and up went the fire works and the bonfires were lit, then came strong, gusting winds…

The fire service were needed just after midnight (00.28h) and had their work cut out for them until about a quarter to one in the morning, putting out the oversized bonfires.
