The Policía Local in Motril have begun a crackdown on noisy mopeds/scooter (49cc) that scream around the streets.
They will be making sure that they keep to the speed limits, have no passenger on the back, as well as checking the ITVs and decibels, just in case that they have punched holes in the exhaust to sound ‘more impressive’.

If they do find an exhaust-pipe silencer that has been ‘modified’ then the owner will face a nasty fine for unauthorised modification to a road vehicle. The deficiency will have to be corrected and pass an ITV inspection to confirm that it has been done correctly.
Unfortunately, the campaign will only last a couple of weeks, which means that standard exhausts will be hooked off and the noisy variety slapped back on just as soon as the campaign concludes. *Sigh!*
Editorial comment: Me? Grumpy? Don’t be ridiculous! 😉
