There is a threat of strike action hanging over the Sierra Nevada ski resort right in the middle of the ski season, similar to the one in 2021.

Workers belonging to the semi-public company that runs the ski resort, Cetursa Remontes, are protesting that the company has fallen down on the terms of the agreement made on the 20th of February, 2024, to improve working conditions.

There will be a meeting between the company and the workers’ representatives on the 24th to see if an accord can be reached.

If not, there will be strikes on the 1st and 8th of March, lasting all day. If their demands are not met by then, the next strike will be on the 14th with a strike lasting only during the morning.

Then on Saturdays the 22nd and 29th of March with more all-day strikes and then on the 4th of April with another half-day strike. Finally, with no agreement reached, there will be strikes on Saturdays the 12th and 19th lasting all day again.

So we are talking about hitting the ski resort hard during the build up to Semana Santa and during those festivities.
