Well-Fight Survivor in Custody

A Granada lawcourt has ordered that the Almuñécar man who killed his brother-in-law with a mattock over the head be remanded in custody pending trial.

Both men, aged 57, had had a fight over a disputed well on land that they had inherited. Although both were seriously injured from the mutual blows metered out, one died in the ICU of Hospital de Traumatología in Granada two days after the incident.

The other man recovered and was discharged into police custody so that he could appear before a police court.

It’s not known whether he is being held on charges of murder or manslaughter, as it might be considered self defence, whichever way, the wife who lost her husband at the hands of her brother is in an impossible emotional situation.
