Camino de El Colorao

The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, appeared for a photo shoot on the work being carried out on Camino de El Colorao, accompanied by two of her cabinet councillors

The work to improve the lane surface is financed through the Programa de Fomento de Empleo Agrario (PFEA).

The steepness of the lane and the lack of culverts along part of the way has caused the surface to develop potholes thanks to  the erosion caused by rainfall.

Therefore, the work includes providing drainage down the side of the lane with diagonal humps directing rainwater off the surface to the newly installed culverts.

The Camino de El Colorao is one of the oldest country lanes in the municipality and is situated in the north of the township, providing access to subtropical plantations.

Mayor Chamorro, said that her administration fully recognised that Motril is predominantly an agricultural municipality so the maintenance of rural communication infrastructure is very important. She also said that they would be doing up four more country lanes in the coming months, improving accessibility for farmland and country dwellings.

This Camino de El Colorao work is a continuation of the development projects included in the PFEA 2024 with a total budget of 1,461,432 euros.
