A Dozen Arrests in Dozen Months

Actually, the title isn't quite correct because the same thief has been arrested thirteen times in twelve months.

This is the case of a habitual criminal in Órgiva whom the Guardia Civil has just arrested again. The 41-year-old suspect was arrested this time accused of breaking into somebody’s home in the capital of the Alpujarra Granadina.

Amongst the reasons for his arrests were for six for muggings, with others for extorsion, domestic violence and fraud.

The latest arrest occurred in the early hours of Monday after the suspect allegedly climbed up into a dwelling on Avenida González Robles, which triggered a burglar alarm. The security company alerted the Guardia Civil who were shown security-camera images of a man wearing a hooded top, jeans and with a backpack.

The police immediately directed the nearest patrol to the address, which was one in Lanjarón. When they arrived they saw a man fitting the description in a nearby street, so they stopped him, identified him and arrested him.
