There's a bit of a twist to a kidnapping attempt that took place in Granada this week and it invoved an ankle bracelet.

A 21-year-old man was ordered to wear one of these tracking devices as part of a court order forbiding him from approaching an ex-girfriend.

Chance would have it that this same man was pounced upon and kidnapped by two men. The kidnappers contacted the victim’s family and told them to pay up or else.

The family, instead of caving into the kidnappers’ demands contacted the Policía Nacion to say that there had been a kidnapping but that the victim was wearing an ankle bracelet…

Well, within 20 minutes, his whereabouts was located and the police had swooped into to arrest the kidnappers, all three, the victim and kidnappers, were sat in a car at the time.

This all happened on the 20th and ended with the kidnappers being charged will illegal detention and the victim returning home within hours.
