There was another fire down on Salobreña vega, this time on Monday the 23rd of December.
It took fire personnel from Motril two and a half hours to put out. Fortunately, nobody was hurt but the fire did consume eight marjales of wild cane. A marjal is around 540 square metres, so we’re talking about 2,700 square metres.
The fire was reported to the emergency coordination centre around 14.00h on the 23rd, located behind the fairground area on the beach. Besides the Motril fire service, the Salobreña fire detachment was also involved, together with the Guardia Civil and the Protección Civil.
It was declared extinguished at 15.41h, according to the Councillor for Citizen Safety at Salobreña Town Hall, Antonio Rodríguez Molina.
The cause of the fire is still not known but the Guardia Civil are carrying out an investigation.
