Skiing From Today

The Sierra Nevada winter resort begins the 2024/25 ski season today for skiers; it had been opened last week or other activities!

Just how many slopes will be available and which ski lifts, will depend on how much snow fell last night, bolstering the work of the army of snow cannons that have been pumping out artifical snow for the last couple of days.

Rocío Díaz, who is the Chairwoman of the company that operates the slopes, Cetursa, said, “Intensive work has been carried out to have the first slopes available for skiers, who we knew were eager to fully enjoy Sierra Nevada.”

So far, the slopes and lifts in the Beginners Area of Borreguiles are guaranteed for this Friday, although this initial forecast may change for the weekend. Currently, the snow-production system concentrates output in the Beginners and El Río areas. The snow groomers (see photo) have been carrying out snow-conditioning work ready for the opening.

The snow activities for non-skiers that until now have been operating next to the Borreguiles have been moved to their usual location at the Mirlo Blanco activity complex, in Pradollano.

Lastly, the underground parking facility in Plaza de Andalucía, which has been free since November the 30th, will become pay-per-use this Friday.
