Last month saw a weekend of violence in local football matches, but not between rival fans but from parents for these were matches between 10&11-year olds.
It was on Friday, 65 minutes into the match that kicked off at 18.30h when the father of a kid belonging to C.D. Ciudad de Granada attacked the team’s trainer because he had left his son on the bench. The match was being played away in Armilla and the home team were winning 11-3.
The match was immediately suspended. Furthermore the son will be dropped from the team, thanks to the behaviour of his father. Thanks, Dad!
Then the next day, the mother of C.D. Español Albolote player attacked the referee during a match that was being held in Alhendín.
The match had begun in the morning at 09.30h and there had been some criticism of the referee’s decision, which is pretty standard in any match anywhere in the word. However, at a given moment the mother jumped down onto the pitch and ran at the referee, giving a resounding slap across the chops. Other than being completely astonished, the referee was unharmed.
The football clubs involved are contemplating whether to suspend all the matches or play before empty stands.
As said above, these teams are Alevins; i.e., the players are aged ten and eleven, so the actions of their parents is a spectacular example on how not to behave.
