Sunday saw Motril Port’s Open Day where Salvamento Marítimo and the Guardia Civil were the star attractions.

From ten in the morning, the general public had a chance to see close up the sea-rescue launches and their rescue equipment. There was even a rescue drill staged using one of their helicopters.
Participating vessels & Aircraft were:
Patrol boat, Rio Sil belonging to the Guardia Civil
The rescue ship/tug, Sar Mastelero belonging to Salvamento Marítimo.
Rescue launch, Salvamar Gienah (Salvamento Marítimo)
Rescue Helicopter Agusta Westland Helimar 205 based in Málaga.
It was a family event and the kids were treated to going onboard the moored vessels. But the younger children even had a bouncy castle and water slides.
Another treat was getting a birds-eye view of the whole port through the camera of one of the installations’ drones.
