We reported on a 40-metre high, mobile-phone mast going up at the beginning of the year, which did not please everybody in nearby urbanizaciones.

The Town Hall has been in conversations with the company who will manage the phone mast and gleaned that it should be operative during this coming month.

As things stand, in some parts in the beach area at least, you have more chance of getting a message through using messenger pigeons than on your mobile. Things are made worse by the arrival of swarms of migrating tourists, all bringing their phones with them.

So, with the new mast soon handling all the phone needs of residents and visitors, the Town Hall feels that it has accomplished a pledge made a long time back.

As for who built and who the phone mast belongs to, it is a US company, American Towers, which is based in Boston and who instal & operate this kind of infrastructure all over the world.
