There are a number of Los Bajos bars/cafeterias/restaurants (Paseo del Altillo) that are coming up for lease, the Town Hall has announced.
The said premises are: La Sirena, New Pinball, Bodeguita del Mar, Soho and Torero. The new lease will be for 30 years. Each premises has different characteristics; thus different lease prices
Anybody who is interested should visit their webpage for the Plataforma de Contratación del Sector Público section.
The old leases have still not run out but the Town Hall wants it all wrapped before then. The new lease holders will be responsible for health and general quality, and cleaning; basically all the obligations you would still have to carry out if you owned a premises and used it as a bar/cafeteria/restaurant.
The lease, once awarded, cannot be extended so once concluded it will be put up for leasing again.
It was at the beginning of the noughties (2000s) that the old Paseo was demolished after the lease holders had all been turfed out. They were allowed to occupy the spank-new ones when they were finished, but were faced with the cost of putting all the fittings in – that was less than 20 years ago.
Editorial note: Pinball was the first Almuñécar bar/cafeteria that I ever set foot in, back in November 1981, so it holds special memories.
