The Ticket that Can’t Win

Most of us already have our Christmas-draw lottery tickets, known as El Gordo, but did you know that if you have bought one particular number, you can't win?

SPN Stolen Lottery NumberWell, you can win, but you can’t collect the prize money because somebody has been very naughty and consequently that number, 30742, has been embargoed by a law court. Let us explain.

A bar owner in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) reported that his premises, La Barrika, had been burgled around 02.00h on the 16th and the thief had walked off with his sheet of Christmas, lottery tickets on sale; i.e., the number 30742. So, if that number does come up, the lottery authorities will not pay up because it could be one of the stolen tickets.

The bar owner warns people in the area to beware of somebody selling tickets from a whole sheet or even individually as decimos, as they could be stolen.

Now, obviously, if you have bought that number from a lottery office or a bar/restaurant, then you’re OK but if you bought one up there, or from someone shady down here, you could have been sold a hot one, and we don’t mean ‘a winner!’

Remember that every number has a series and fracción number so not all of the 30742 on sale are affected, just the ones that correspond in the series y fracción numbers details.
