Whilst on the subject of fires, residents of barrio de Capuchinos in Motril were awoken by the sounds of a lean-to dwelling going up in flames.

The construction, which was a shelter put up by homeless people on an empty building plot, was near the central street of Calle Isaac Albéniz where a trade union has its office.

The fire broke out around 02.00h yesterday morning and the Policía Local and Motril fire service were called out to deal with it, after they received several calls from concerned local residents.

The Policía Local say that at this moment the cause of the fire is unknown, nor is the whereabouts of the person(s) who sheltered there.
