It Makes A Change

A priest has been arrested for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting women on organised bus tours. He also filmed his exploits.

Police suspect that this has been going on for years. So far they have identified five victims, although they believe that there are more in Málaga, Melilla and Córdoba.

The police investigation began in August after a woman reported this priest from Vélez-Málaga to the Unidad de Familia y Atención a La Mujer (UFAM) in Melilla. She had found a DVD in her lover’s flat in which there were numerous photos of semi-naked women, seemingly asleep under the effect of a drug. A man in the images was carrying out sexual acts whilst they were unconscious.

Suspecting that these scenes were photographed and filmed without the consent of the women concerned, she made a copy and went round to the local police station with it. The commanding officer then passed on the statement and evidence to the UFAM Central.

When they contacted the five identified victims they were not only unaware that these recordings existed and much less what had happened to them. They recognised the man in the images as the priest, so the police obtained a warrant to search his home and confiscated a computer and other equipment. So far the confiscated material has not been thoroughly examined.

In the mean time the priest was arrested and is being held in preventative custody.
