In the early hours of the 14th of December the body of a young Norwegian woman was discovered in Torremolinos on a zebra crossing.
The young woman appeared to have died from asphyxiation rather than from a road accident, so an investigation was immediately opened. Although at the time of the writing of this article the autopsy results have not been made known, the police were able to identify her and inform her family.
The police are said to have obtained surveillance videos from a camera outside a beauty salon, as well as interviewed witnesses in this residential area where the woman was found, but will not officially confirm whether they suspect that she has been the victim of a criminal act.
The victim is 21-year-old, Anne Mathea Morken from Ringebu in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, who had been living in Torremolinos over the last year. Anne, it appears, was a keen sports person and had been studying to become a personal trainer in Spain.
The Norwegian embassy in Madrid has provided consular assistance to her family. When the investigation has concluded, the body of the victim will be repatriated to her country of origin.
