Diners must have jumped out of their skins when the ceiling at the back of a restaurant in Torrenueva Costa gave way on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 14.30h within Restaurant Aguazul and resulted in two people being injured

Personnel from the Motril Fire Service and an ambulance were soon at the scene of the incident; the first to evaluated the stability of the remaining ceiling and the latter to attend to the two people injured: a woman had a slight injury and a man felt a bit faint.

Both of the two people affected made it around to the town’s medical centre under their own steam.

Fire personnel took down any bits of plaster ceiling that looked unstable but the damage was not enough for the restaurant to have to close its doors to customers.
