The Policía Local in Motril located a woman in her 80s who got lost walking on a beach, only to turn up later in a sports facility.

The 83-year-woman had decided go shopping along the Camino del Pelaíllo (Playa Granada) when she became disorientated and wandered off on Friday afternoon. It was hours later that same evening that she turned up.

Her disappearance was reported to the emergency service on 112, who in turn alerted the municipal police who sent out patrols.

She was finally located in the UP gymnasium not far from Alcampo supermarket. She was taken to a medical centre for a check up whilst the police got in contact with a relative who was still searching along the beach for the woman.

After the check up she was taken home, accompanied by the relative.

Editorial comment: it makes a nice change for a person reported missing to turn up alive and well.
