The Vox candidate for Mayor in Motril is suing his own national party for messing up the voting forms in Motril, costing him council seats.
Ex-Councillor, Miguel Ángel López, whose party didn’t obtain any council seats because of this mix up, is taking Vox and the Area Electoral Board to court for negligence and moral damage.
Sr. López decided to put the affair into the hands of his lawyers so those responsible will be held to account.
The faulty ballot papers caused 944 votes for Vox in Motril to be annulled, resulting in the loss of two council seats won in the previous elections.
To add insult to injury, after getting the ballot papers wrong, nobody from HQ bothered to contact him, leaving him feeling, “abandoned,” in his own words.
The party did later appeal against this annulment before the Regional Supreme Court, but it was lodged to late, resulting in the court rejecting it.
The Vox party HQ does not intend to take it higher but will take the same problem with incorrect ballot papers in León to the nation’s High Court.
Editorial comment: we believe that the Vox ballot papers issued in Motril had the candidates from another town on them, making them invalid. Secondly, the spot chosen for this accompanying photo, with the backdrop of a Maritime Rescue Launch, was a statement in itself.
