The Granada-based, Policía Nacional arrested a parking employee at an underground car park in the city centre, accused of embezzling 8,000 euros.
The alleged light-fingeredness of the accused, who had worked in this parking installation for the last 25 years, came to light after he was replaced. The person who took over his position noticed that there was a large deficit in the accounts and reported it to the manager.
The money was missing from the takings generated by the automatic ticket machines inside the installations. The float in the office’s till was also empty. The sum of both added up to a total of 8,000 euros.
The manager immediately phoned the accused asking him to come back to the parking for a chat, which he did. Once there, the manager brought up the missing funds and asked for an explanation. He received no answer, or at least, one that he considered satisfactory.
The manager then informed the police, which resulted in the accused being arrested.
