Police were amazed to find a small arsenal inside an empty house in Estepona, including submachine guns, pistols and ammunition.
They found around 50 weapons all told when they entered. It seems that the people who were using the house belonged to a criminal organisation (gang).
Some of the weapons were left just hanging about whilst others were in sport holdalls. The haul consisted 30 pistols, eight submachine guns, twelve shotguns and two revolvers, as well as 15 silencer attachments and 30 ski masks, magazines and telescopic sights.
Apparently, the tenants had stopped paying the rent in 2021 but it is not known when they stopped going there. It was the property owner who discovered the weapons and immediately contacted the police.
The Policía Nacional then launched Operación Rambo to uncover who had been using the house in this manner, but to date they have not managed to find out their identities.
Editorial comment: if somebody had been paying the rent, then there must be a trace of his or her name or a bank account. It doesn’t make much sense that whoever owned these weapons would just leave them there, either.
