A man in his late 70s was rescued in the sea off a Torrenueva Costa beach yesterday, more or less in front of Restaurante El Churrasco.

The 78-year-old man was having difficulties in the water around 12.20h and beachgoers managed to get him onto the beach. However he was showing signs of exhausion from nearly drowning after having fainted whilst in the sea.
Somebody phoned the emergency coordination centre, 112, and they despatched a 061 ambulance from Hospital Santa Ana. When the paramedics arrived, he was already receiving First Aid from the lifeguards.
They stabilised his condition and he was conscious when they transferred him to the ambulance to take him to Hospital Santa Ana and seemed to have recovered somewhat from his ordeal.
