It's the wonderful smell that first strikes you as you walk into Sal y Pimienta, in front of the Almuñécar's Friday Market Square.
You literally walk into an old-time store before supermarkets changed everything. there are all kinds of spices and herb on display within small sacks and large jars.
If that doesn’t make you feel cosy, then the Jazz music she plays, softly, certainly will. Yolanda Blasco is proud of her shop, as she should be.
Besides the spices, there is rice, legumes, flour and over a dozen kinds of salt. There are cereals, muesli, dried fruit, a score of different kinds of coffee, handmade, ecological pasta. In fact, many products there bear the ecological stickers.
But instead of listing all that Yolanda has in her shop, go there and see for yourself, because this is a unique type of shop, tastefully decorated and set out. Parking, obviously is not a problem, unless you go on a market day (Fridays/Sundays) when you can’t park just about anywhere in Almuñécar
Yolanda speaks good English, so there is no communication problem either, and if you remember where Russell had his music studio/academy, then you know where it is.
