In the latest Plenary Meeting of the Salobreña Town Council it was announced that there was a considerable surplus from the 2021 budget: 4,076,703 euros.

SAL Town Hall 400x250Thanks to this extra cash, Mayor Mª Eugenia Rufino explained that they would be able to carry out some jobs around the municipality that need doing.

Amongst them, improving access to La Caleta, as well as several streets within the town. Another task would be to enlarge the municipal cemetery by providing more niches.

As far as the sports facilities go, they could sort out the running tracks, provide lighting for the tennis courts and purchase defibrillators. Lastly, the extra cash could go towards archaeological studies within the municipal heritage sites.

The Mayor says that they have even been able to pay off some of the municipal debt – the obligation to use any surplus from a budget exclusively on reducing municipal debt has been suspended, but even so, the Mayor says that they went ahead and did it.
