Backroad Widening Continues

Anybody who uses the backroad to Lobres from the Salobreña trading estate will be glad to know that work on the lane resumed this week.

SAL Lobres Back lane OC22What they were doing, when I went to find out what was happening, was digging out the earth irrigation channel and inserting a concrete lining, so that the road could be widened right up to it.

The were using prefab sections for this – see photo.

Obviously, the road was closed to traffic because there was a JCB and other construction vehicles working on it, but that didn’t stop people passing on motorbikes and bicycles… with caution.

I asked one of the workers just how far they were going to go and he remarked that it wouldn’t be much further; as far as a fruit-tree plantation on the left. In other words, they have widened the lane from where the trading estate ends all along the open fields on the left to where the first fruit-tree plantation is.

Hmm. €179000. That’s a lot of Dosh for a small strip of road widening. If they can only go up to the plantations. ??
Bits and bobs along the way. But months of work. ??
