There was an accident on the N-340 between Motril and Torrenueva Costa involving a bus and a car.

The head-on collision, which resulted in the immediate death of the 36-year-old car driver, took place around 08.00h yesterday morning near kilometre point 335.

Three passengers on the bus also had to be treated for slight injuries. The bus driver was uninjured.

The Motril fire service were needed to cut the body of the driver out of the wreckage of the car.

A road-maintenance crew was called in to clear the debris from the road whilst the Guardia Civil directed the traffic along the remaining single lane.
