Another person suffered a fall and had to be rescued from the Junta de Los Ríos in Otívar, which required the use of the Guardia Civil helicopter again.
The accident occurred around 13.00h when a group of abseilers contacted 112 to say that one of their number had suffered a fall coming down one of the waterfalls in the upper part of the ravine, injuring her back.
The Grupo de Rescate Especial de Intervención en Montaña (GREIM) were called out, winched her out and flew her to the Parque Tecnológico de La Salud in Granada.
Editorial comment: the mountain rescue team might as well camp at the Junta de Los Ríos during the summer and just wait for the next adventurer to twist an ankle, fracture a leg or damage their back – it would save on air hours and fuel costs.
