Fakes & Forgeries Destroyed

Rubbish-collection workers in Almuñécar belonging to FCC have loaded up items confiscated by the police that had been earmarked for destruction.

ALM Fakes & Forgeries DestroyedThe 1,500 kilos of forged-brands clothing, pirated DVDs and other illegal products such as ‘shady’ sunglasses are the fruit of several years of periodic clamp downs on street hawkers, as well as confiscated items being sold on the weekly street markets.

The Councillor for Citizen Safety, Paco Robles, explained that all this material had used up the available, alloted storage space, so they had to go to ‘meet their Maker,’ and we’re not referring to small factory in China or Morocco.

Although 1.5 tonnes of material might not sound a lot, given the nature of the items (clothing, etc) their bulk required two lorry loads to move it and take it to the Trituración y Transferencia de Residuos plant.

“Most of the confiscated items were jettisoned (by street hawkers) when the police were spotted approaching along the paseos, explained the councillor,” or found on market stalls.”

Jop: That building (which is in skeleton form; i.e., just concrete structure) belongs to the family of a PP councillor. The Mayor has received instructions from the country’s top lawcourt to demolish it but she hasn’t. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with “Benny” (Benavides)

Re fakes… Is the new Benavides hotel real or fake?

Phil: in an ideal world, yes, but they could run the risk of getting into legal problrems with the original-brand maker

Although the clothing maybe of dubious quality surely it could have been passed on to a charity to avoid it going into landfill

Patrick: I could be suggesting that the refuse collectors might be tempted to take home more than the dust & grime from their labour on this particular mission – I know I would… if I could get a look in sideways with you sifting through it first… 😉

    What are you suggesting.?
Next thing you’ll suggest that money is given to those in power , under the table or in big plastic bags. !!
Or passed onto favourite charitable trusts. ??

  7. Martin says:

Patrick: call me cynical but I wouldn’t be surprised that some of those clothes, etc, didn’t make it to the plant…

I have an idea. !! Why not offer the non dangerous stuff to very poor or homeless persons. So they at least can have poor quality clothing that looks good.
I know too much organisation costing money. Just burn it. !!
