Brit Hunters Barred

Two British hunters in Órgiva have been ordered to pay 480 euros in fines and are barred from hunting for a year, for having hunted without a valid licence.

AND Poached Mountain GoatsTwo other people faced the judge in Granada but the case against them was dismissed after the charge was withdrawn by the prosecution.

The court sentence read that British citizens, D.C.G. and A.L.C. contacted J.C.C. through a webpage which promised to obtain the necessary permits to go hunting. After agreeing on the terms and price to participate in a mountain-goat beat, J.C.C. and J.P.V., acting as guides, took them out on the 19th of October, 2017.

They took them to a hunting ground (coto de caza) in the Sierra Lújar where the British hunters brought down an undetermined number of male mountain goats.

The Asociación de Abogados Granadinos that looks after the interests of the Environment and Animal Rights, through their lawyer, David Sánchez Chaves, acted as prosecution.

Finally, as well as the fine and prohibition on hunting, the two British hunters have to pay the court costs amounting to 3,600 euros.

Editorial comment: it appears that the two individuals who promised to obtain the hunting permits and failed to do so, were let off, but the two hunters, unaware of the situation, were prosecuted. Does anybody up there in Órgiva have any gen on this case?
