Brit Hunters Barred

Two British hunters in Órgiva have been ordered to pay 480 euros in fines and are barred from hunting for a year, for having hunted without a valid licence.

AND Poached Mountain GoatsTwo other people faced the judge in Granada but the case against them was dismissed after the charge was withdrawn by the prosecution.

The court sentence read that British citizens, D.C.G. and A.L.C. contacted J.C.C. through a webpage which promised to obtain the necessary permits to go hunting. After agreeing on the terms and price to participate in a mountain-goat beat, J.C.C. and J.P.V., acting as guides, took them out on the 19th of October, 2017.

They took them to a hunting ground (coto de caza) in the Sierra Lújar where the British hunters brought down an undetermined number of male mountain goats.

The Asociación de Abogados Granadinos that looks after the interests of the Environment and Animal Rights, through their lawyer, David Sánchez Chaves, acted as prosecution.

Finally, as well as the fine and prohibition on hunting, the two British hunters have to pay the court costs amounting to 3,600 euros.

Editorial comment: it appears that the two individuals who promised to obtain the hunting permits and failed to do so, were let off, but the two hunters, unaware of the situation, were prosecuted. Does anybody up there in Órgiva have any gen on this case?

You need a valid license for firearms here. If they brought their own then authorities knew they were here. Paperwork etc. Sounds very dodgy but they are lucky they were not locked up for firearms offences.

Should they not have been baa-ahed.?

  3. Martin says:

Patrick: Nope. There have been fireworks going off all weekend and there have been mini-manoeuvres in the port put on the police forces but apart from that, nothing that I know of – sorry!

Órgiva, is that the place where they have the egg men festival? Not been for a bit. I really can’t get my head round the fact that you can go somewhere and do what they did. If they weren’t hunting for food, which I very much doubt, then they deserve everything they’ve got. Should’ve said to them, OK what are you gonna do with that now, sorry I thought it was saschwatch

Martin. Nothing to do with this sad for the hunted animals situation .
Past four days somewhere out to sea or mountains beyond Motril. Sounds like blasting or naval gunfire. Any ideas. !! Today at about midday. ??!!

  6. Martin says:

Patrick: many Brits only have two initials (you and I are exceptions) I guess that only initials were supplied as perhaps there can be an appeal be found not guilty.

  7. Patrick Barry Storey says:

The two so called men. That offered to supply killing licences. As the first two have been identified as British.
I guess the others cannot be identified in any way. As no evidence, plus they were only guides.
Why just initials.? Scared of being told off by others for this so called sport.
Now if they were hunting for food. No issue. But for fun I disagree. !!
