Last Sunday, at the beginning of the Fiestas del Corpus Cristi in Granada, the police arrested a man wanted for the death of a biker.
The incident occurred in July 2018 when the now arrested man was drink driving and ran into a man on a motorbike near Padul – the culprit was breathalised and found to be three times over the limit.
In April 2019 his trial was to be held but as he admitted guilt, the hearing wasn’t necessary. He was sentenced to three-years’ imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
The man had already been done for drink-driving on a previous occasion before the fatal accident in Padul, which is why the sentence was stiffened for being a repeat offender.
He was instructed to present himself at the provincial prison on the day that the sentence was to begin, but he never did and had been on the run since then.
However, the Policia Local found him at one of the bars in the fairground. Unfortunately for him, a policeman knew him and had recognised him and alerted the municipal police.
