Starting today, 35 lifeguards will be on duty on Almuñécar's beaches, manning the five lifeguard posts within the municipality.
At 11.00h, the lifeguard post on Playa Puerta del Mar will be the location chosen to introduce the personnel.
UTE Playa Almuñécar is the company that is providing the service, making it its second consecutive year.
The main beaches within the municipality that have lifeguard posts are: Playa San Cristóbal, Playa Puerta del Mar, Playa Velilla, as well as Playa Marina del Este and of course La Herradura bay.
The service will run for 80 days meaning that it will conclude at the beginning of September.
Editorial comment: as we are seeing that summer increasingly begins earlier and lasts longer, meaning that dispensing with lifeguard coverage at the beginning of September could be considered premature.
