Temperatures will be up today but not only that because ultraviolet radiation levels will also be very high. It will get hotter as the week progresses.
Inland, Granada will sizzle a little at 34ºC and Guadix at 33ºC, whilst in the rest of Andalucia temperatures will reach 35ºC in Córdoba, 34ºC in Sevilla and 31ºC in Huelva.
The most important thing will be the UV radiation level in the provinces of Granada, Jaén and Córdoba which will reach Level 11, or in other words, “very high.”
This means that there is risk to exposing yourself (stop sniggering) to the sun over not even very long period during the day, not just because of your skin, but also your eyes.
Consequently, it is best to avoid being in the sun between 10.00h and 16.00h and if you are planning on being out in the sun, wear adequate clothing to cover you and/or use a minimum sun-factor cream of 30.
On the coast, temperatures will be at least ten degrees lower with Almuñécar registering a maximum of 23ºC and Motril/Salobreña 24ºC. As for night temperatures, in Valle Río Verde there will be a minimum of 19ºC and Motril & Salobreña which enjoy the cooler night temperatures coming down from Sierra Nevada via Río Guadalfeo (17ºC).
Temperatures will climb during the week reaching a maximum of 27ºC by Friday. Villages and towns along Valle Río Verde (Almuñécar, Jete, Otívar & Lentegí) will have “extreme” UV radiation on Monday whereas in Salobreña and Motril it will remain at a level lower at “very high” that day.
In Órgiva the hottest day will be Monday (33ºC) and UV radiation will be “extreme,” according to meteorological data provided by Tiempo.es. The maximums in Lecrín will climb from 29ºC on Sunday and then to 32ºC on Monday and again, with UV on Monday being “extreme.”
Editorial comment: well, this is what we can expect until October so I guess we had just better get used to it because we can’t complain that it “wasn’t in the brochure.”
