There's a restaurant/hotel in Nigüelas called Alquería los Lentos which is well worth a visit on any day, but yesterday was a special day, too.
In the grounds of the beautiful building (an old mill built in 1855) they held a handicraft market, complete with live bands. The event started at 10.00h and went on until 23.00h and was a great success.
Now, this establishment doesn’t advertise with us, so this is not a promotional article for a client but a desinterested assessment of somewhere to eat and stay as well, as they have excellent rooms.
We made a booking for a table and ate there. We were impressed both by the food and service, and it was certainly not expensive, either. So, regardless of whether there is a handicraft fair or any other event happening in its grounds, it’s worth it just for somewhere special to eat out.
Being an old mill, water is a feature there, both flowing through the gardens, and also expressed in the museum-like decor of the interior where parts of the milling equipment features in the dining room.
It’s easy to find: just come of the A-44 at Dúrcal, take the service lane running alongside the N-323 until you see the sign for the Alquería Los Lentos, which is a couple of kilometres up the A-3025.
They have their own parking, so that isn’t a problem either. They open from Wednesday to Sunday, lunches and dinners.
