Olona Struck off Empadronmiento

Salobreña Town Hall has begun the process for removing Vox candidate, Macarena Olona, from the empadronmiento list, based on a police report.

SAL Macarena OlonaA town hall cannot exclude somebody from the Empadronmiento without a valid reason, so the Mayor instructed the Policía Local to ascertain whether the far-rght candidate for the upcoming regional elections actually lives at the address that she had given on her application form.

Sra. Olona has 15 days to contest this decision, after which she will be formally removed from the said list.

The owner of the house (Manuel Martín Montero) is the provincial head of Vox, as well as a councillor within Salobreña Town Council. He publicly stated that she does not live in in the said house.

Not being a resident in the Province, she cannot run as the provincial candidate for Vox on the 19th of June. The fact is that Sra. Olona was until very recently an MP in the national Parliament and resident of Madrid, but she resigned her position in order to run for Vox in the Andalusian elections.

The Mayor of Salobreña, María Eugenia Rufino (PSOE), originally stated that Sra. Olonso’s inscription on the Empadronmiento had been carried out correctly and although she didn’t particulary like it, could not prevent the Vox candidate from doing so.

In the meantime, the Vox Spokesperson for the national parliament, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, upon being asked about the police report on national TV, said, “We always knew that there would be all kinds of tricks, obstacles and attacks but now they’re evening stopping Olona attending debates,”adding, “but all this is irrelvant because Vox is going to obtain excellent results in the Andalusian elections.”
