There was a bit of a rumble yesterday when a grumpy earth tremor, registering 5.0 on the richter scale, improved bowel movement in Granada and Málaga.

The epicentre was just off the African coast between Ceuta and Melilla, more or less, according to the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN).

The seismic movement was picked up at 14.35 local time and was followed by two after shocks at 14.43h and 14.46h with intensities of 3.6 and 3.3, respectively.

Fortunately, the slip occurred eight kilometres down – the closer to the surface; the more strongly it is felt.

The IGN received calls from Alameda, Antequera, Málaga capital, Vélez-Málaga, Torrox, Rincón de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Mijas, Algarrobo, Estepona, Alhaurín de la Torre, Pizarra, Benalmádena and Marbella.

In dear old Granada, on the other hand, it was felt in Almuñécar, Salobreña, Motril, Agrón, Albolote and Padul.

It was also felt over in the province of Almería in Adra, Roquetas de Mar, Almería capital and El Ejido.
