Costas began this week the emergency work on Costa Tropical beaches to repair storm damage and loss of sand.
This work is taking place within the municipalities of Salobreña, Motril, Gualchos and Albuñol:
Specifically, heavy machinery is working on Playa de Poniente (Motril), Playa de La Charca (Salobreña), Playa de Castell de Ferro (Gualchos) and Playa de La Rábita (Albuñol).
Meanwhile in Almuñécar sand is being lorried in on Playa de Velilla at the waterpark end, Playa Cotobro and over in La Herradura, on Playa Peña Parda.
It is hoped that all work will have concluded by San Juan; i.e., the 24th of June.

Huub: it’s like bailing water out of a boat with a hole in it; it’s exhausting and only buys time until you can fix the problem; in this case, build a breakwater.
Hello, were a few days further and yes, the sand on the beach in La Herradura is washed away, I don’t understand this kind of work.
Can someone give me more details ?
Why are they piling up the sand onto the beach at La Herradura? It is covering rocks and looks like a platform of some sort. Many lorry deliveries of sand per day which will surely all be washed away?
