It looks like the Hermanos Moreno in their Espacio de Arte have knocked out a couple more sculptures for Almuñécar and La Herradura.
One of them will be installed on the Paseo Andrés Segovia in La Herradura and the other on the Paseo de San Cristóbal in Almuñécar.
The Moreno brothers, who enjoy both national and international renown, have other sculptures around the municipality.
The Councillor for Beaches, Tourism & Little Fiddly Bits, Daniel Barbero explained that one is entitled Espetero [somebody who BBQ’s skewered fish over hot coals on a beach] and that the sculpture is 2.20 metres high and is composed of a mixture of forged and smelted metals and will be placed on the Paseo de San Cristóbal around the fiestas de La Virgen del Carmen; i.e., mid July.
The second one, called Corazón, is made of forge-welded metal plate, which will have a bluish sheen in allegory of the sea. It will be installed by the end of spring on the roundabout that gives access to the beach road.
The combined costs of the two sculpture is just under 70,000 euros. However, the said Councillor considers that the expense is justified as they “enhance the municipality”
So far the municipality has the following artistic sculptures: Monumento a Los Fenicios (Paseo del Altillo).
Miguel Moreno Romera (Born 1935 in Granada) first learnt his profession from his father before going onto to the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos in Granada. He obtained a doctorate at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid.
